Large outdoor cockroaches, often called palmetto bugs, live in mulch, palms and storm drains and come inside through gaps and drains. German cockroaches are small, live and breed indoors, and need a more intensive program with follow-up. The treatment plan depends on which one it is.
Who it's for
- Large roaches showing up indoors, especially after rain
- Small roaches in the kitchen or bathroom, day or night
- Condo and multi-unit owners dealing with roaches from shared spaces
- Owners preparing a rental for new tenants
What's included
Identification
Species, life stage and where they're living or entering.
Inspection
Moisture, drains, gaps around plumbing, food sources, clutter and exterior harborage.
Treatment
Targeted placements and exterior treatment for outdoor roaches; an intensive indoor program with follow-up for German cockroaches.
Follow-up
Scheduled checks until activity declines, with the terms written into your plan.
How it works
German cockroach programs usually need more than one visit and some help from you with sanitation and access. Your technician explains what to do before and after each visit in writing.
Not included, or referred
- Promises of elimination after a single visit
- Plumbing leaks that feed roaches (Uniform Plumbing)
- Sealing and repair work (Uniform Handyman)
What affects the quote
You get a written recommendation and quote after an inspection. These are the things that move the number:
- Species and how established the infestation is
- Number of rooms or units
- Clutter and access
- Number of follow-up visits
More detail is in our Naples pest control cost guide.
Safety and instructions
Preparation, re-entry and pet or child precautions depend on the product label and the treatment plan for your home, so your technician gives them to you in writing for that treatment. We don't publish one-size-fits-all wait times. See treatment safety questions.
Why homeowners choose Uniform
Every technician who comes into your home has passed a guaranteed background check. You get a written treatment scope before work starts, a service record of what was found and applied, and the Uniform quality guarantee on the work in your agreement.

Frequently asked questions
Is a palmetto bug the same as a cockroach?
Yes. It's a local name for large outdoor species, usually American or Florida woods cockroaches. See palmetto bug vs German roach.
Does one roach mean an infestation?
Not necessarily. One large roach after a storm is common. Small roaches seen repeatedly indoors warrant an inspection.
Will one treatment do it?
For German cockroaches, rarely. Your written plan says how many visits are expected and why.
